OPEN RA POSITIONS

Two research assistantship positions are available for MSc/PhD students, starting March 1st, 2014, to conduct research on information theoretic analysis and optimization of cooperative energy harvesting wireless networks. The project is titled "User cooperation and resource allocation in energy harvesting wireless networks ", and is funded by TUBITAK. The prospective students will be jointly supervised by Prof. Onur Kaya (Işık University) and Prof. Sennur Ulukus (University of Maryland). The prospective candidate

• Should demonstrate strong academic and analytical skills (a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher),
• Should have a solid background and motivation in the area of communications.

Also one or more of the following is preferred, and will be a big plus

• Some knowledge of information theory,
• Prior MS thesis work in the area of communications (for PhD students),
• Experience in coding using MATLAB.

The positions are for 2 years for MSc applicants and 2,5 years for PhD applicants (may be extended based on performance). They include a competitive stipend (1800TL/month for PhD, 1500TL/month for MS students), and tuition remission for the entire MS/PhD program at Işık University. Other benefits may be available based on merit. Students already enrolled in PhD programs at other institutions may also apply, provided they will work on this project for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
